He also has the second 'e' in his name backwards to show his individuality and that things in his life are sometimes backwards
In the beginning of his carrier the rapper Eminem was one of the first white rappers that had enough talent to come up against some of the most famous black rappers. He was not very popular until Dr Dre took him under his wing and signed him. When he was signed he had to get a lot of attention so that he could sell albums, after he was accepted for his lyrical ability by the other rappers of that time he started to sell a lot more records and because he was white he gained another audience, which were not very big in the rapping world and would have been a minority audience but yet they grew and grew, as he is the second-highest selling rapper of all time, behind Tupac Shakur.
His image was very different he bleached his hair blond and he already stood out because of the colour of his skin, he was very young when he started his career and has always rapped about his life, past and family.
As he got older he worked with other artists and came up with his alter ego 'slim shady' who is a crazy psycho.
A large part of Eminem's popularity is his separation from the over-abundance of "pop-rap", in which rhymes rarely stray from bragging about money and jewellery, fast cars with large rims, huge parties, and constant casual sex. Instead, Eminem's songs typically explore deeper anger, thoughts, questions, and statements about his life and how he is treated. Common topics are:
Drugs and self-abuse (mostly in his early Slim Shady-era album and freestyles)
His mother and childhood
Being white in a black business/culture and growing up in a black neighbourhood
His wife (Kim Mathers, whom he remarried in 2006)
Disgust with groupies/dating
Growing up in poverty-ridden Detroit
Raising his daughter and niece
America and the government
Poking fun at celebrities and American pop culture
Annoyance and/or amusement with people's literal interpretation of lyrics in songs like
"Criminal" and "Stan".
him and his family who feature in a lot of his raps
Stan is meant to be a fan who is obsessed with him and he ends up going mad and killing him and his pregnant wife, the typography of the poster is the original name 'brand' of Eminem’s name and then the name Stan is like its been written this relates to the song because Stan writes letters to him.
As he grew older Eminem grew up as his music matured so did he doing more promotional work, working with movies, own TV show and posters and also making decisions on politics and giving a different opinion:
The poster for 8 miles shows he is in a bad place because of the dark clothes and the high angle he looks angry and this portrays his music he is righting lyrics on his hand showing that is his life and it is not only a job it is an obsession because he can't wait to get his lyrics down.
Eminem has done some voice acting, both on Crank Yankers and a web cartoon called
The Slim Shady Show, which has since been pulled offline and is instead sold on DVD.
Eminem has also been linked to "Songs of Hope" by U2 and supported the Boys and Girls Club of America and the Leary Fire Fighters Foundation with various proceeds donated to these causes.
In 2004, he held a political convention of his own in New York City, in response to the National Republican Convention. In the song "Mosh", Eminem expresses his support for American troops,
but speaks against the Iraq war and the Bush administration.
After the lose of one of his best Friends Eminem went in to a dark place and retired from the music business he hide away from the Media and took himself from all of his friends. he took a lot of drugs and became very dependent on them, he was depressed and rumored to have tried to kill himself, Elton John was his saver he came to his rescue and pulled him out of his hole he then came clean told his story and released a hit album within a year of recovery, releasing some of his biggest songs "I'm not afraid" and "love the way you lie" ( with the hit artist Rianna).
His image has changed, the blond hair has gone and he looks more serious and grown up. He is no longer with a crew he is a complete solo artist who stands on his own two feet, singing of his past, his family and friends and also his recovery his is a all-rounder performer who doesn't care for talking of his cars and jewellery, his lyrics are pure and to the point and his story is true.
